Web Design World Report

Posted July 7th, 2007 in graphic design, web design by admin

I have finally settled into my hotel room at Web Design World 2007. The conference, and my beautiful hotel room, both reside in the lovely Seattle Marriott Waterfront Hotel. The hotel sits within spitting distance of the water and most of the rooms offer breathtaking views of the Mt. Ranier and Elliott Bay. The staff is friendly, the dining is first class, the rooms are spacious, the conference facilities seem to be adequate. The hotel seems to offer all of the amenities one would expect when attending a web design conference. EXCEPT FOR WIRELESS INTERNET IN THE ROOMS! Are you kidding me? There are motels in my small town that offer wireless internet. To make matters worse, the archaic ‘wall-tethered’ internet access costs $9.95 a day. Absurd.

It seems that new stock photography sites are cropping up again. Links to stock photo sites are passed along to me all the time. usually the sites are defunct by the time I pull them up. Continue Reading »

Icon see you, too.

Designing for websites nearly always involves the use of icons in the user interface. They can be used for bullets, navigation, buttons, online tests, status indicators, feedback prompts, the list goes on. Rather than including my own feelings about icons (do I actually have feelings about icons?) I am providing a few links to what others are saying about them.

You can also take a look at my bookmarks for icons. What about you? Do you have any icon links to share?

    Yotophoto

Finding free stock photogrpahy is a difficult task. Finding good free stock photography is nearly impossible. I have a few decent links to some free sites, but I have since replaced them with one super-link: Yotophoto.

Yotophoto is tapping into many of the well-known free stock photography sites, as well as wikipedia, flickr, and morguefile.

All you need to do is search for an image you would like to use, verify the license or usage conditions for the image, and then you can use it!
